Change to the programme for the concert on 23 May 2009
The Prague Spring festival office is announcing that the programme for the concert of the Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of South Bohemia on Saturday, 23 May at the Rudolfinum has been changed. Prof. Ivan Moravec, who was to have been the soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, op. 37, will be unable to appear because of an unfortunate hand injury. At his personal recommendation, his replacement for that evening’s concert will be Petr Jiříkovský.
A leading representative of the middle generation of Czech pianists, Petr Jiříkovský has been well known to the festival public since 1998, and including the aforementioned recital this year, he has made a total of eight appearances at Prague Spring. This time he will appear with the Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of South Bohemia conducted by Stanislav Vavřínek in Ludwig van Beethoven’s last concerto, the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 5 in E flat Major, op. 73 (“Emperor’). We hope the public will accept this change of soloist and programming with understanding.
Tickets to the concert will remain valid.
