Changes in the Violin Jury


Category: Prague Spring Competition

We regret to inform you that on grounds of his health Josef Suk has asked to be relieved of the duties of Chairman of the violin competition. The position will be taken by Professor Michael Frischenschlager of Vienna. Professor Ivan Štraus is the new representative of the Czech Republic on the committee.

Josef Suk will continue to be the Patron of this year’s competition, and will present the Suk prize for the best performance of his grandfather’s Four Pieces for Violin and Piano.

Results of the 2010 Competition pre-selection


Category: Prague Spring Competition

On 13 January 2010, the pre-selection for the trumpet competition took place. On the basis of listening to 105 anonymous applicants, the committee selected 60 candidates.

The pre-selection of violinists took place on the 18 January. After listening to 65 applicants, the committee selected 59 candidates to compete in Prague in May.

News from the competition


Category: Prague Spring Competition

15 December 2009 was the deadline for applications to the 62nd year of the Competition. The Prague Spring head office received 105 applications for the trumpet category and 66 for the violin category. The Competition organizers are now deciding when the advance round should take place, and we shall soon inform you of its results.  (continued)

Competition terms 2010


Category: Prague Spring Competition

At its June meeting, the Permanent Committee of the Competition adopted the Terms and Conditions for the 2010 Prague Spring International Music Competition. The Laureates of the Bassoon Competition

We are happy to announce the winner of the Prague Spring Competition – Bassoon, Václav Vonášek (Czech Republic), surpassing his own success at the 2002 Competition, where he received Second Prize.

Philipp Zeller (Germany) won Second Prize and Third Prize goes to Ms Zeynep Köylüoglu of Turkey.

The Opening and Draw for the Bassoon Category of the Prague Spring Music Competition

The Prague Spring Music Competition in the bassoon category officially opened at Národní dům (National House), Vinohrady, on Friday, 8 May, at 6 pm. It was followed by a draw to determine the order of competitors in the First Round.
