The 65th Annual Prague Spring International Music Festival will continue the celebrations of the life and works of Bohuslav Martinů and, at the same time, will pay homage to Gustav Mahler, marking the 150th anniversary of his birth. (continued)

The Prague Spring festival office is announcing that the programme for the concert of the Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of South Bohemia on Saturday, 23 May at the Rudolfinum has been changed. Prof. Ivan Moravec, who was to have been the soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, op. 37, will be unable to appear because of an unfortunate hand injury. At his personal recommendation, his replacement for that evening’s concert will be Petr Jiříkovský. (continued)

The Prague Spring festival office hereby announces that because of the serious illness of the Estonian conductor Neeme Järvi, taking over as conductor of the traditional opening concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday, 12 and 13 May 2009 at which Bedřich Smetana’s cycle of symphonic poems Má vlast is to be heard will be the current chief conductor and music director of the Warsaw Philharmonic, Antoni Wit. The Prague Spring head office wishes to inform you that the SHANGHAI SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA has cancelled its European tour, which was to have included a performance at the Prague Spring Festival in the Municipal House on 31 May 2009. Substituting for the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra will be the Prague Philharmonia under its chief conductor Jakub Hrůša. Highly acclaimed for their artistic quality, both the orchestra and the conductor are well known to Prague audiences. (continued)
