During the year when we are commemorating 50 years since the death of Bohuslav Martinů, the ensemble named for him could hardly fail to appear at the festival. They will be honoring that composer together with the soloists Bohuslav Matoušek and the French violinist Régis Pasquier. Directing the performance will be the young conductor Jakub Hrůša, who has already established himself internationally. The concert will begin with a work honoring Martinů by the Czech composer Zdeněk Zouhar: his Variations on a Theme of Bohuslav Martinů. As the conclusion to the evening’s performance, you may look forward to the popular Fifth Symphony by P. I. Tchaikovsky.
